Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. She is the owner and director of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a California native, Buss has been raised by an upper class family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon, who was later the manager of the Lakers and other sports businesses. When her parents split in 1972, she began to feel emotionally abandoned. When she was 19 years old, she became the General Manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers She was also the president of Great Western Forum. Buss and her siblings, five siblings and brothers as well as their father, who owned the Lakers and controlled them until his death in 2013, took over this ownership through the trust. They each enjoyed the same vote rights. She was named president of Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
