Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens is an American artist and rapper, best recognized under the stage name Queen Latifah. Her performance as a singer, music as well as a film and television artist has won the actress two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Image Awards. She also received an Grammy Award as well as six additional Grammy nominations. Queen Latifah was born in and raised in Newark New Jersey the daughter of Rita a schoolteacher who worked at Irvington High School and Lancelot Owens, Jr. as a police officer. Latifah's parents divorced when she was just 10 years old. Latifah, who was born and raised in Newark New Jersey attended Catholic school in Newark. Dante Ross of Tommy Boy Music has signed Latifah upon hearing the track. She released her first single Wrath of My Madness, in 1988.
